Symbols and Charts
I want to add the company "Fake Corporation" to my symbol list but I don't know the symbol. Where can I find the symbol?
Depending on which API provider you choose, you will have to search for the symbol name on their site. For Yahoo, its http://finance.yahoo.com and Google Finance its http://google.com/finance. Please enter the full symbol name including any suffixes
For Dow Jones Industrial or DJI, I found the symbol ^DJI but StockMeter won't accept it. What gives?
DJI symbol name is a known issue with Yahoo. You should use INDU in place of ^DJI
I want to add commodity futures such as metals (GOLD - SILVER - PALLADIUM - COPPER)
All commodities supported by Yahoo! Finance are listed on the following page http://finance.yahoo.com/futures. Please add the full symbol name.
My charts won't show? or For some symbols I get "Chart Not Available"
Charts are currently supported only for Yahoo symbol names. Having said that, if the Yahoo symbol name matches the Google API symbol name, the chart will still show even if you have chosen the Google API.
For instance, Google Inc has the symbol GOOG in both Google and Yahoo APIs, and it will show the chart for Google no matter which API you use, on the other hand, Siemens AG uses the local symbol ETR:SIE in Google Finance and SIE.DE in Yahoo ergo the chart will not show up.
Alerts
My alerts won't show. What am I missing?
The alert functionality depends on the Growl Framework available for download at http://growl.info. Please ensure that you have installed it. Alerts are processed on every refresh so you can try to do a manual refresh and check if the alert gets triggered.
